More than majority of the number of respondents to a latest survey on Internet gambling believe that online gambling should be illegal or should be strictly regulated. The United States government falls in the camp of those who think online gambling should be declared illegal. Thus, it passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.What is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act?The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act prohibits banks, financial institutions and credit card companies from processing fund transfer or payments of Americans to online casinos. Some people argue that the law does not prohibit the act of gambling online. It only prohibits the transfer of the money to online casinos. Why Should Online Gambling be Illegal?

The saddest thing about online gambling is that it attracts people who cannot afford it to gamble. In fact, online gambling has created a widespread excessive gambling epidemic that has only been recently brought to the attention of social workers and the government.

“Nowadays, it is not only just men who are addicted to gambling. Women have joined the ranks of excessive and addictive online gamblers” (Source: www.playsportal.net).

Some people argue that online gambling should not be declared illegal. People would just have to learn how to discipline themselves. This statement is absurd. Too many families have been ruined by gambling and a lot of people went broke because of gambling. And with the availability of online casinos, more and more people will likely develop an excessive gambling habit. The only way to prevent the lure of online gambling is to declare it illegal once and for all.
