Prams and Pushchairs - Their Basic Differences

Filed under: Advice, Kids Stuff, Product Info — admin @ 6:02 am

Prams and pushchairs are the two main baby carriages available in the market. However, not many of us know the real difference between the two. A pram or perambulator has a padded cot- like arrangement that allows your baby to lie down or sleep, while you are travelling from one place to another. Prams generally have a number of additional features like good storage spaces, sun and wind shades, better suspensions, etc., and hence are quite popular among parents of newborns.

Unlike a pram, a pushchair provides for a sitting arrangement in which your child can sit and enjoy the surroundings by looking around and interacting with his environment. It is generally lighter than a pram and takes lesser space.

Pushchairs are more appropriate for older children, who can sit properly and are more curious about their surroundings. However, younger children are better off in a pram that allows them to sleep for most of the day, and it is more convenient for their parents to carry them along in a pram.

However, you should keep a few things in mind while buying a pram or a pushchair. The first and foremost consideration should be the comfort of your child, which is not to be compromised at any cost. Buying a cheap and uncomfortable pushchair or pram will cause your baby much discomfort. You should instead go through the reviews online and compare prices of different pushchairs and prams before setting out to buy one. You can also visit retail shops personally and see for yourself which carriage will better suit the needs of your child.

It is important to remember that new-borns should lie down and not sit up, so, as an example, choosing a pram where the baby lies down would be a better choice than, say, a stroller. What is your main reason for buying a pram or push car? You need to think about the usage for your pram, is it for special occasions or holidays, or do you want to be able to use it each day? For holidays light weight strollers are ideal but they are not ideal for daily use, so the best option is to buy a complete travel system.

A good pushchair can last for years, and as such, one should really see it as an investment only if you shop wisely, however. It’s important to compare prices before purchasing.

Consider the usage that your pushchair will get with you using it each and every day for a few years to come, make sure that you purchase one that you really enjoy using. There are many styles currently available including all terrain three wheelers and modern three and four wheelers.

Educating Children Through Playing

Filed under: Kids Stuff — admin @ 5:23 am

We all want our young ones to grow up well educated to establish not only a great working life, but also to hand them a great apprehension of the world to hand them good life skills. Thing is, there appears to be this enduring fight of taking your nippers away from their toys or the gogglebox in order to force them to do their homework. In schoolhouses it seems that the playfulness is removed from learning, so it’s not really a shock that children are bored. It doesn’t have to be that way though. Instead of this false dichotomy of studying and having fun, it’s far more effective to mingle playing and studying and make it a joy to learn.

Kids study much more when they either see a practical purpose as to why they’re learning something, OR if studying is simply enjoyable.

An example: hand the youngsters 26 blocks, corresponding to 26 letters of the alphabet. Now ask them to construct a tower from the building blocks that spells out a particular word. So they’re enjoying themselves and attempting to make block towers not collapse while learning to spell.

It’s now realized that once you introduce a subject to a child in a fun way (for instance music), youngsters are more susceptible to becoming interested in it later on in life. If the alternative is to just make them to attend a class, face them toward a blackboard, then tell them to listen to the teacher talking, you’re more likely to encourage daydreaming than learning.

In terms of toys, what to buy the children? These days there’s a huge range of toys. Always bear in mind that children have fun playing with almost anything, even a cardboard box! From traditional wooden toys to party games for kids, so long as the emphasis is on studying and helping your youngsters to become more inquisitive (which promotes self-learning).

For the Non Sleepers

Filed under: Advice, Kids Stuff — admin @ 9:54 pm

Sometimes getting the baby down for a nap can be really tiring and can put a major strain on everyone, including the pets in the house. A crying baby is not a fun thing to have to sit though. Getting the baby down for the count is not always easy, but if you follow these rules you will have a good chance a t getting the litter monster away the sleep land of Nod.

1. Stick to the schedule- this, more than anything is the most import thing to do. Babies’ lives run around a time schedule, they have nothing else to go by. Keep the same kind of activates around the same time of day.

2. Fill them up- this is mainly before bedtime. Give them so much milk that they pass out. We like to call this getting them mike drunk. You will know when they are almost ready to go out because they will start to doze off and lose control of their head like drunken person.

3. Hold them close- Babies feel really nice and connoted by the closeness of you. When she is almost ready for bed cuddle her and she will fall asleep.

4. White Noise- Babies do not really like the sound of silence. A constant noise is what they crave; try turning the radio all the way to the left of right, so that all that plays is the static. The sound of the washer or dryer, or soothing music will work too.

How To Teach Your Children To Cook

Filed under: Kids Stuff — admin @ 7:01 pm

If you’re ready to teach your children how to cook, here are some simple tips for teaching them the basics, and giving them skills that will last them a lifetime!

First of all, think safety. Any child that has to stand on a stool or chair in order to reach the stove is too young to cook. Start younger children off by letting them help set and clear the table, gathering ingredients, and stirring, mixing or adding ingredients.

Next, set rules about handling knives and other sharp instruments and handling hot pans or boiling ingredients. Some parents start teaching their children to cook by showing them how to make things that don’t require cooking first, and then graduating to letting them make food in the microwave.

Create a relaxed atmosphere that is fun when teaching your kids to cook. Remember what it was like when you were learning to cook? Chances are, you made a few messes and broke a few dishes. It happens. Learning to cook should be fun, not drudgery, although there are certain responsibilities that go along with the privilege, such as cleaning up as you go along, and leaving the kitchen clean when you’re finished.

Start with the basics. Show your kids what the different utensils are used for, and the right way to use them. Teach them about herbs and spices, and using the right ingredients for the right dishes. Cooking is a great way to learn fractions and chemistry, and your kids might not even realize they’re learning while they’re having fun!

Begin with simple recipes. There are some great cookbooks for kids on the market today, that include step-by-step instructions and pictures so kids can see what something’s supposed to look like while they’re assembling the recipe…let success build on success.

Give your kids a chance to shine. As they learn to cook more complicated recipes, let them be responsible for planning — and cooking lunch or dinner one night. Letting your kids plan the meal — and even shop for the ingredients will help them to realize and appreciate the effort that goes into cooking.

As your kids become more skilled, begin including foods from different cultures. Many recipes such as French crepes or Italian lasagna are not difficult to make, and your kids will develop an appreciation for many different kinds of food.

Especially for younger children, having tools that are their own size not only make cooking more fun, but make it easier for them to participate. Kid-sized kitchen utensils can be found at many department or specialty stores.

Make sure you take plenty of pictures — you may not realize it now, but you’re making memories that someday will be as delicious as that batch of chocolate chip cookies you’re baking now!

You too, can manoeuvre in the unfamiliar waters of gourmet cuisine, with just a few well-learned techniques that are easy to master, and build a repertoire of literally hundreds of dishes and deserts. Let Geoffrey set you on the path today, to gastronomical delights! www.free-recipe-books.com

Filed under: Better Health, Kids Stuff, Medical Center — admin @ 10:41 am

The ultrasound waves can be redirected back then captured to provide info to construct a 3d picture in much the same way as 3d pictures. 3d ultrasound was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.

It’s important to understand that sonologists worldwide have always pictured three-dimensional images of anatomy or pathology in their minds whilst doing 2d scans. However, until recently it was very difficult to do this kind of reconstruction on patient data acquired using ultrasound. The advent of baby scans for the first time allowed us a peek into the brain of a sonologist and so letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

While there is no information of harm due to 3d ultrasound, its use in non-medical situations should be undertaken with the understanding that a risk may exist.

Baby Naming and Godparents

Filed under: Kids Stuff — admin @ 7:12 pm

Cinderella had a wonderful fairy Godmother who helped Cinderella achieve her heart’s desire in meeting and captivating a prince. This kind of Godmother seems to be totally different from the kind of Godfather Marlon Brando portrayed. But despite this, or perhaps because of this, parents often wonder whether the term Godparent is appropriate term to use for a Naming Ceremony.

While Godparents have always been synonymous with a religious christening or baptism, the term God does not exclude spiritual beliefs which have nothing to do with a specific religion. People, like the poet Wordsworth, for example, saw God in the grandeur of nature, while the early Egyptians worshipped the Sun, as God personified.

However, for those people who do see God as part of established religion, and who would like to substitute another term for their baby’s naming ceremony, there are many substitutes which are just as suitable.

Some of the popular terms used are Guideparents, Guardparents, Mentors and Sponsors. And, no doubt, other names will pop up as the celebration becomes more widely used throughout the world. At the moment, Australia leads the field for the celebration of this particular occasion.

Whatever the term used, the role of the substitute Godparent remains the same. This is the person, or persons, who undertake to assume the responsibility of looking after the child in the even that something happens to the parents.

It is stressed that this is not a religious ceremony where the child is inducted into a specific religious community. A naming ceremony doesn’t preclude the possibility that the parents will choose to have the child christened or that the child will, later in life, choose to be christened or baptized into a particular religion.

A naming ceremony is seen as a welcoming ceremony into the community of its family members, family friends, and by extension, into the wider community of humanity.

Naming ceremony is just that - a naming. It’s a way of saying, ‘Welcome to the world. We’re happy to have you amongst us.’
