Job Search Using the Web to Your Advantage

Filed under: School of Telecommunication, Templates Hub, Tool Hall — admin @ 1:48 pm

A modern job hunting campaign is by nature pretty Byzantine. While the net has offered a variety of new channels, it also creates increased competition for choice jobs and potential challenges for job hunters.

Job hunting needs to be thought of as a personalized, very aimed marketing operation where you are the product. Your resume is an advertisement. Your extended network is your source for information and opportunities.

So where does the internet fit in? At AA-Careers, we just posted a job on a popular job board and got 600 plus applications in a calendar week. For one position. That’s increased competition for jobs.

Had the right person contacted us before we ran the ad, they could have secured the position prior to running in to all that competition. How? By finding someone who knows an employee at our office who became aware of the job prior to posting. Everyone knew of the job for at least 10 days before it was posted. Who in your network might know of a job that’s coming available soon?

Be careful how you submit your application as well. When we did an analysis of the 650 resumes, we found a large number of errors. 63% of the applicants were easily taken out with a fast-paced triage process. How? The same way any HR professional would. By eliminating resumes where the objective didn’t match our job posting. By rejecting prospects whose cover letters gave us grounds not to employ them, like "I know I’m overqualified but I really need a job". By eliminating candidates whose documents that didn’t open properly. And by rejecting candidates who didn’t bother to spell check their cover letter and/or resume.

So the good news is that job boards give you a feel of who is hiring, and for what kinds of positions. But once those positions are posted, the competition is intense. You can still compete, if you have a well honed resume, designed to appeal directly and clearly to the recruiter. And if you have practiced interviewing – so you don’t stumble at a critical point.

Another downside to be aware of is how quickly you can be investigated on the net. As we Googled several job hunters, we ran into some pictures and comments that were in questionable taste. Nothing crazy, but enough to sway our thoughts about who to choose.

AA-Careers provides a extensive set of services for Bay Area job seekers, providing our clients a personal career consultant, a managed job hunting campaign, modern tools like a personal website, video, highly targeted resume, and much more. Let us know if we can help you.

Be careful out there, and good hunting!

How To Use Rest To Gain More Muscle

Filed under: Templates Hub — admin @ 1:19 am

Are you frustrated with not gaining any weight while you keep
putting in the hard yards in the gym day after day week after
week. It might be because you are not getting enough quality
rest and sleep and this could be what’s holding back those big
gains you are looking for.

While you are on any weight gain program you have to be careful,
you have to stop any intense cardio work, as it will mar your
strength training progress by taking a big bite into the energy
needed for your recovery.

Remember that your body adapts best to a stimulus when it only
has to adapt to a single stimulus, and the main priority here is
strength training so please keep all incidental activity low. In
a sense you have to become “Lazy” By this I mean:

Instead of running “walk”.

Instead of walking “sit”.

Instead of sitting “lay down”… Get my point?

Another point is that if you want to gain more muscle, you will
have to try to get more sleep. Go to bed early whenever possible
and sleep late whenever you can.

Here are some other reasons why you should sleep more: *
Insufficient sleep has been linked with increases in fat tissue
in the body and a loss of muscle strength and muscle mass.

* Lack of sleep causes a decrease in bone density, particularly
in women because it can lead to osteoporosis. Good sleep is as
important as a service is for your car. It recharges your
batteries, changes your oil and tops up your fluids so you can
operate at peak function.

Sleep also repairs the body after strength training workouts and
strengthens the immune system.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, it might just be that you are
lacking certain vital nutrients in your diet, leaving you
feeling depressed or anxious and causing you to wake during the
night unable to return to sleep.

Try and include the following foods in your diet for a better
nights sleep: Cereals

Unprocessed cereals contain starch and complex carbohydrate to
fuel energy reserves and give a comfortably full feeling.

Starch is known to greatly increase production of the endorphin
serotonin, which is the body’s natural feel good drug. It acts
to control moods, reduce anxiety and promote normal sleeping
patterns.

Try a bowl of cereal just before bedtime; bread is also a good
choice.

Oats

The oat flakes from which porridge is made are an excellent
source of vitamin B6, which is needed to promote serotonin
levels in the brain. Alkaloids in the grains can also have a
relaxing effect.

Tuna

Tuna and other oily fish are an excellent source of calcium, a
lack of which is said to cause anxiety.

So increasing the intake of these in the diet may well relieve
stress-induced insomnia. Oily fish is also an excellent source
of Omega 3 oils, which are essential for general health.

Pasta

A good source of protein for those who are lacking this nutrient
and its endorphin-stimulating amino acids.

Pasta has a very low salt content, and is low in fat. It’s rich
source of complex carbohydrates to fill you up and because it
releases energy slowly, helps you feel pleasantly calm.

A perfect food choice for relaxation before bedtime.

Bananas

Bananas are a rich source of potassium, a vital mineral for
nerve function and a lack of which can cause you to feel
depressed and in turn lead to insomnia.

Bananas also have plenty of serotonin stimulating starchy
carbohydrate to relax you and are a good source of the amino
acid tryptophan, also needed for the production of serotonin.

Nuts

Nuts are rich in B vitamins, proteins and selenium. Brazil nuts
are the richest source of selenium.

Nuts are also high in protein, a lack of which can cause anxiety
and depression. They contain both amino acids tryptophan and
L-phenylalanine, which helps the body to produce those relaxing
endorphins.

Strawberries

A source of vitamin C, which helps to produce endorphins and a
good source of potassium, a lack of which can cause stress.

The red colour is due to a flavonoid, which seem to function as
a biological response modifier or in other words they can change
your mood for the better and help you relax.

In conclusion, to have a fully rested body every day is a giant
step towards making big progress in the Gym. High intensity
workouts can then be maintained for longer periods and you’ll
have much more energy available during a workout to push out
that extra rep. “Increase your SLEEP and increase your GAINS”

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Filed under: Templates Hub — admin @ 2:21 pm

Rhinoplasty, commonly called a nose job, is a type of cosmetic
surgery designed to repair or reshape the nose. As one of the
most prominent features on your face, your nose has a large
bearing on your appearance and can impact how you feel about
yourself. Individuals who are displeased with the size or shape
of the nose can benefit from rhinoplasty because of the
opportunity it offers to completely alter the appearance of the
nose. Rhinoplasty has the ability to increase or reduce the size
of the nose in its entirety, removing a bump, altering the shape
of the bridge or the tip of your nose, narrowing the nostril
openings, and modifying the angle between your nose and your
lips.

Rhinoplasty cannot be successfully performed until the nose has
stabilized and nasal bone has stopped growing. This typically
occurs around age 14 to 15 in girls and age 15 to 16 in boys.
Any surgery performed before this point runs the risk of having
to be redone once nasal growth has ceased, since the nose has
the potential to continue to change and develop until that
point. Rhinoplasty is occasionally performed on younger children
in the case of severe trauma to the face, so that the nose can
be restored as close as possible to its original shape and size.

Most rhinoplasty procedures are performed on an outpatient basis
under general anesthesia. There are exceptions to this rule,
though. Patients undergoing severe reconstructive surgery may be
monitored overnight to ensure that no complications arise.
Individuals seeking to have their nose “set” after a bad break
will occasionally receive local anesthetic only.

During the procedure the cosmetic surgeon makes an incision
either inside the nostrils or through the columella, the
external strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. The skin
is then separated away from the framework of the nose itself so
the doctor can access the underlying cartilage. In order to
reshape the nose, the soft flexible cartilage and bone are
manipulated into the proper position and shape. Depending on the
desired results, tissue may be removed or added to change the
angle or contour of the nose. A chisel or file may be used
during the procedure, most frequently to remove a hump from the
bridge of the nose. Once the nose has been sculpted into the
desired shape, the skin is resituated and the nose is splinted
to protect it. Nasal pads may be used for the first few days
following the surgery to pack the nose and protect the delicate
septum.

Rhinoplasty, as with all other surgeries, is not risk-free. In
addition to the standard bruising and swelling, patients should
be aware of a number of potential side-effects that could result
from the procedure. These include an infection of the nose,
nosebleeds, numbness, scarring, and a reaction to the
anesthesia. Some patients report the bursting of small blood
vessels on the surface of the skin and hematomas, or collections
of blood that pool under the skin. The possibility also exists
that a follow-up procedure will be necessary in order to remedy
an over-correction or under-correction of the nose.

When successfully performed by a highly-qualified surgeon,
rhinoplasty can dramatically improve the appearance of your nose
and improve your self-confidence. If you are considering
rhinoplasty and would like more information about this
procedure, contact a reputable cosmetic surgeon in your area and
arrange for a personal consultation.

What is DHEA

Filed under: Templates Hub — admin @ 12:14 am

DHEA or dehydroepiandrosterone is a steroid hormone touted as a
wonder supplement that can improve your overall health. The
hormone claims to melt away fat, as well as slow down the aging
process and improve the memory of its users. Ultimately, DHEA is
converted in the body into estrogen and androgen, the male and
female sex hormones. All of the benefits of the supplement are
in the end merely the effects of those two hormones.

As
your hormone levels decrease with age, you are more prone to
illness, show more age, and have a decreased sex drive. By
increasing a decreasing level of hormones in your body DHEA can
in effect slow down the aging process, and help your body
maintain itself as it did during your younger years.

Studies in mice and rats showed DHEA as an effect weight loss
supplement, however no study as of yet with humans has shown the
same results. Although DHEA has an effect on many who take it,
that effect changes depending on the user.

Who
should take DHEA supplements?

DHEA is a naturally
occurring hormone in the body, taking DHEA as a nutritional
supplement should only be necessary later in life when your
levels of the hormone have naturally decreased. Your body
naturally produces DHEA, with levels peeking in early adulthood
and then gradually decreasing there after. DHEA supplements,
when recommended are generally not recommended for those under
the age of fifty. Before you start taking DHEA visit your
physician and determine what the current level of DHEA is in
your system. Those with particularly low levels of DHEA existing
in their system can benefit more from taking DHEA supplements.
Those who already have enough DHEA however can cause themselves
more damage then good with taking supplements.

What
are the negative effects of DHEA?

DHEA alters the
hormone levels in your body. If you are currently being treated
for a hormone related cancer such as breast or prostate cancer,
then it may not be a good ides for you to start taking DHEA.
DHEA has also been known to cause skin problems, increased
facial hair growth inn women, and mood swings. By adding
additional hormones into your system you are altering the way
your body works, which can sometimes cause negative effects.

Where can I get DHEA?
DHEA
supplements are available from most vitamin and health
supply stores, as well as several different retailers online.
Make sure when you purchase DHEA that you are purchasing the
correct dosage amount for you. Large amounts of the hormone can
be harmful, so it’s important to make sure you are getting the
right amount.

Before beginning to take an new
supplement be sure to consult your doctor and make sure that
DHEA supplements are right for you. If you already have a good
level of DHEA in your body, then taking the hormone, or taking
too much of it can cause negative effects your body, that may be
permanent. As with taking any supplement, it is better to be
safe and consult your doctor, than to take the wrong dosage and
be sorry later on.
